- The lack of leadership at the Republican Party of Wisconsin isn’t just concerning, it’s frightening.
- Dr. King doesn’t trust the RPW, and neither do I.
- It’s impossible to win without good leadership. RPW don’t and they haven’t.
- Hilario should resign from his position as MKE GOP County Chair and work for Will Martin.
- The RPW has no authority to tell the county parties they can’t allow Jay Schroeder or Brayden Myer signs in the office. I know many who are going to have them whether the RPW likes it or not!
I had a very good and extremely informative conversation with Dr. David King a day or two back. I’ve known Dr. King for quite some time. He has been an advocate for family issues dating back to when I was the clerk of the Assembly Committee on Children and Families back in the mid 2000’s. We met for lunch and went over a number of issues affecting the family, in particular, black families in Milwaukee. Two things that I’ve recently stated that I’ll repeat now. First, you have to be able to put together a team of people to get the signatures needed to make the ballot. Secondly, we desperately need more leaders like Dr. David King, especially in Milwaukee. I’m not sure how long Milwaukee can last. There is a 7.9% sales tax, and the property tax rate is the highest in the state. Milwaukee also gets the lion share of the state’s shared revenue. None of these taxes has translated into streets that are safe or in good repair. I won’t bother discussing the dismal state of the schools, that’s settled science. The city is unlivable and unaffordable, how’s THAT for a double whammy!
Back to the talk with Dr. King. I would like to see David join forces with the good guys, but the lack of leadership at the RPW is hard to overcome. I wasn’t in a good position to shoot down his objections to the party because I agree with all of them. The so-called leaders of the Republican Party are either corrupt or short-sighted and if you told me both I’d be in no position to dismiss your claim. It goes beyond the extraordinary measures used to prop-up the illegitimate Nate Pollnow. It is clear to most observers that the RPW insists upon making sure that the republicans that emerge from the primary process aren’t the ones the people choose, but the ones THEY choose, and they choose the ones that are willing to play their game.
It’s not just the RPW, but there’s very few real leaders down at the county party level as well. I’ve softly pointed out that Hilario in Milwaukee had no business living in a Will Martin T-shirt for the last few months while the rank and file looked the other way. Is there a leader to step up down there. Hilario needs to go. ASAP. There’s opportunity down in Milwaukee: WANTED ONE LEADER, APPLY WITHIN! Requirements? How about some leadership skills.
Back to the party. I’ve asked privately and publicly, why would the RPW go to such extraordinary measures to drag Nate Pollnow over the finish line? I have multiple sources tell me he’s got anger issues, he can’t spell secretary, and he showed up out of the gate with a plethora of “endorsements” from the leaders of the swamp.
Hilario and other “leaders” won’t allow any of the other candidates for SOS to as much as walk in a parade. And these people think that’s going to pay off for them.
Again, are there any leaders out there? It doesn’t seem like there are any.
The trouble with politics is that it is full of politicians
The Role of the County Party – Checks and balances – (or lack thereof)
In the movie Braveheart, King Edward (Longshanks) stated that the trouble with Scotland is that it is full of Scots. Well… The trouble with politics is that it is full of politicians. I guess there’s not a lot of room for true believers. Not anymore.
I had a recent phone call with one of the young staffers that the Tiffany campaign has hired to run things on his behalf (take that at face value). I said something like I guess my readers, including myself, are just true believers. When he agreed I asked what everyone else is then. During the long pause and segway to the next topic it hit me. They are realists. The true believers actually believe that politicians will someday be people who sacrifice for the common good, realists understand that they will ALWAYS behave in their own self-interests. How right they are!!
I could have acted in my own self-interest. I could have said, ok, Robin Vos has something going on with elections and Meagan Wolfe (not necessarily romantic) so I’ll just move on. I can hold on to my job and maybe even move up. But the darned true believer in me said no. At my expense. So… What do we do when we come to the realization that politicians aren’t working for the common good, but for the good of their careers? We can try to put together a path were the two interests match up. That’s going to take a check and it’s going to take a balance. The county party was once that check and balance but now it is not.
The trouble with the swamp is that it is full of swampers. What is a swamper? It’s someone who would rather lose an election than lose a portion of their power.
What Upsets Jessica So?… Part 4
Jessica McBride is upset again. This time it’s all about a young man named Michael Alfonso. You see Michael Alfonso is young. Michael Alfonso is married to Sean Duffy’s daughter. Michael Alfonso is running for congress. But we’ve had well-connected young people run for office before. Didn’t Matt Walker kick around the idea of a congressional run back when Sensenbrenner retired? The WCD strongly suspects that it’s not Alfonso’s age or family background that has Jessica upset. Like all swamp dwellers, it’s about power. Whoever ends up replacing Tom Tiffany will be able to exert a tremendous amount of influence upon the 7th district and the party structure up there. If Alfonso should win in August, and basically becomes a shoo-in in November, Jessica won’t be in the “cool kids club” this time around. Alfonso is supported by the youthful group Turning Point Action, the conservative talk host Regular Joe, and now it looks like some of the more conservative county party leaders are throwing in for Michael. Oh yeah, did I forget to mention Trump has also endorsed Alfonso. Might I observe that Michael Alfonso appears to have surrounded himself with some pretty impressive people. NOTE: His father, Orlando, is top-notch, likeable and as much of a patriot as you’ll ever meet.
McBride Dragging Kevin Hermening Down With Her –
Jessica McBride hangs with the disgraceful Meg Ellefson, and Robin Vos and his wife Michele. They seem intent to drag Kevin Hermening down with them. Every RINO in the district is getting behind Hermening. Heck, even the RINO faction like Jim Miller and John Righeimer have thrown their support behind Hermening. I wonder if he is aware of the damage being done here. We don’t want the same old clan type nonsense up there. The same people who are pushing for Kevin (whom I like, and who has been a supporter of the WCD) are the people I wouldn’t trust to feed my goldfish while I’m away.
I have had very positive encounters with Jessi Ebbens. I’m not sure how well her signature challenge sat with me. Kevin is a special guy, and I’ve met Michael, his wife Evita, his dad Orlando, and they are all really good people. I’ve been around long enough to pick up on those kinds of things. I was not going to endorse in the race, but I’ll be rethinking that very soon.
