We all know a few “enablers”. Those are the people who allow misdeeds to continue to occur. For the Democrat’s, the enablers are the left-winged media. Without the constant spin from the media, (and you know as well as I that they are RELENTLESS!) the Democrats could not exist in their present form. The truth would destroy them. There are millions of voters who aren’t paying enough attention to filter out the lies and fabrications. Those are the voters that can be (and many are) persuaded to vote for the Democrat clown machine.
There’s a reason that all of a sudden, Obamacare, Aka, The Affordable Care Act (ACA) is more popular now than it has been in a long time. Besides the fact that Republicans have done their usual slop job at messaging, the drive by media is having a field day with it. You (the readers of this publication) understand that the subsidies do not lower the cost of healthcare. But let me guarantee you that 75% of the Republican voters and 100% of the independents do not fully understand how ACA works. AND we also have the “illegal” boat strikes, we have high beef prices, we have tariffs, and we have Rand Paul talking like he doesn’t understand the concept of free trade. Let’s be clear, it’s not free trade when the other country doesn’t allow the United States fair access to their markets, do we really have to tell the senator that?
The polling suggests the Democrats are making gains and the recent elections results support that synopsis. I suppose as long as people believe the government has a role in healthcare the government will be held responsible for the exuberant prices. The party in power will lose because there is nothing the government can do besides take money from those who produce and give it to those who do not.
Let’s get back to the media. The Democrats could NEVER have gotten away with the Russia hoax, and “the skin heads” are good people mantra, the felony nonsense, the Maryland dad, the poor school kids are terrified (because they’re here illegally), Trump is blowing up the fishing boats, and colleges are somehow entitled to hundreds of billions of taxpayer dollars. The media narrative never explained that illegal aliens were indeed getting taxpayer provided benefits, or even worse, scamming the system and pocketing the cash.
- Most people don’t (purposely) get their news from ABC, NBC and CBS, but people watch the New Price is Right, or the Wheel of Fortune. And guess what comes on right after that? Yep, the “news” with the lead story, “Farmers are feeling the negative effects of the Trump tariffs” story right after this… They then find the two farmers in the state that don’t like Trump to come on and tell their “story”. Even if you quickly turn the channel the seeds of doubt have been planted.
- It’s corporate America that seems to be keeping the drive-by media alive. Spectrum TV is the worst. We went to Chilli’s the other night and sat at the bar, had a drink and a burger. Of the four TV’s they had three sports channels and spectrum news on. During the ENTIRE time we were there spectrum displayed a banner at the bottom (the sound was turned off) saying that there was no evidence that Comey did anything wrong. What garbage! Airports and other businesses seem to prefer CNN or MS NOW to Fox News or Newsmax by a large margin, even though viewers prefer Fox and Newsmax over the others by a very large margin. The fix is in!
- Anyone else notice how much money is being spent on social media trying to convince regular folks that the current “hip trend” is moving away from Trump’s policies? There are thousands of fake ABC7’s and so forth that all seem to suggest that prices are Trump’s fault, and lo and behold, there’s suddenly thousands of fake bots agreeing that Trump has to go. However, when you see the legitimate WTMJ 4 or WISN 12 posts on social media, the comments are fairly balanced if not slanted towards the right. Hmm, explanation please!
It Was a Treasonous Undertaking
Senator Kelly and the other five members of Congress that decided to take part in a plot to undermine the president of the United States by running an ad implying that our service men and women were receiving illegal orders should be tried for treason, and if our judicial system functioned the way our founding fathers designed it, they would be found guilty and held accountable. The real question is what do we do about it? There’s a discussion about saving our country that needs to happen very soon. We need to get loud, and those who are already loud need to get louder.
Anyone can see that the insinuation was that illegal orders were being given. The Democrats do not care about America or the people; they just throw manure at everything at every level and hope that either something sticks, OR people just get tired of the situation (remember Joe Biden was going to bring us back to normal!). We need to make sure the people like Regular Joe and sources like our very own WCD are funded so that we can expand our messaging. We will need to reach new voters, GOP members and WCD readers already know these things. Send me your thoughts!

Europe Can End the War.
Why aren’t the leaders of the European countries the ones who are pushing for peaceful resolution in Ukraine? Where is England, France, Italy, Germany and the others who actually share a continent with Russia and Ukraine? It seems to me Russia won’t cooperate until it is in their own self interest to cooperate. A serious pushback from the entire European community might get it done. Why are these leaders looking across the Atlantic for a solution to what is clearly a European problem?
Be Careful with the “Annointed” Moniker.
Sometimes There’s Just a Solid Frontrunner
As a legislative staffer for close to twenty years, I have an interesting perspective of how and why someone might be considered “annointed” by the establishment. In the last election it was Eric Hovde that was labeled as annointed by the establishment. I for one would find it very strange that the “establishment” purposefully attempted to[s]elect someone they can’t control. And I’m not sure how you can control someone with the kind of money and influence Eric Hovde has. However, it was the appearance of being annointed that did him in. When the RPW decided that county parties couldn’t support Rejani Raveendran and she wasn’t allowed to speak at the convention (dubbed by the moronic RPW as the “unity convention”) the conservative wing of the party was convinced that Hovde was simply a puppet of the “establishment”. Here’s where the perception and the reality might cause some confusion. Calling Hovde a puppet of the establishment is giving WAYYYY too much credit to the establishment. Eric Hovde was considered , and to a very large degree correctly, as the heir apparent. An extremely successful businessman, who had the money and the support of Trump to pull off a victory. Let me be clear. It was the RPW that pushed the conservative wing of the party away from the full support of Hovde. Not the other way around. As for the establishment, here’s where my twenty years comes in. These people would support Woody Allen for president if they thought he was going to be the nominee. They just want to back the winner. They figured Hovde would win the nomination, so they wanted to be on the winning team. Nothing else matters to the swamp. Nothing. They also figured like “always” the conservatives would just hold their nose and vote for whoever. I’m not sure we can count on that anymore. For all the swampers (like Pat & Hannah Testin) whining that they needed to spend millions on the last primary, try engaging with the conservatives that make up the party. All they ask is for a fair shake. Real quick, many incumbents can’t survive a fair shake, and that too needs to change. Try keeping your campaign promises. So, this brings this article full circle to Tom Tiffany. As of 1/8/2025, Tom Tiffany is the only serious choice there is for governor. He’s hands down the better of the two current choices. I’m going to be careful because the WCD has not yet made an endorsement, but he is someone who has actually grown more conservative over the years. But let’s get back to my favorite subject, the swamp. There are all kinds of reasons that the establishment might start lining up for Mr. Tiffany. First of all, getting on board with the front runner is what the swamp does (most astute believes that Trump will be endorsing Tiffany, it’s hard to imagine Tiffany giving up a safe seat without support from the sitting president). Trump is the MAGA and we see how the swampers change their colors to suit the current trends. We (the WCD readers) are the only ones who seem to think for ourselves. I think Tom Tiffany will do very well.
RIP Rob Reiner
As one might expect, I’m torn between saying Reiner was a terrible person, or he didn’t deserve to be murdered in such a gruesome fashion, or neither or both. And he was and he didn’t if you can follow such twisted logic.
NOTE: Let’s start with this. President Trump doesn’t owe Rob Reiner, Jimmy Kimmel, or the Cheney’s a damn thing. They have used their platforms to lie and deceive and spread false information in the most unfair and egregious manner.
Reiner was held up as some kind of hero to humanity while Trump is considered by the Reiner crowd as the scourge of the earth. people like us (myself and the readers of this publication) understand that we are in the middle of a war. A war between good and evil and it is not just a saying written on the tablet in front of a political office. The war is real, and Rob Reiner was a spokesperson for the wrong side. While Reiner celebrated the start of the beginning of the Christmas season with his rich Hollywood friends, Trump, the billionaire who could have been anywhere in the world living a lavished life of luxury, was working towards ending the war in Ukraine where thousands of soldiers die each week.
Trump – Protect Americans from millions of illegal border crossings consisting of rapists, murders, terrorist and drug dealers.
Reiner – let them in and put them up at the Hilton Hotel. Spend billions on them, giving them food, water, housing and medical care while our veterans lay dying. Spend all the FEMA money on the illegals so that there’s only $700 per family left when the floods hit American cities.
Trump – Protect the children from life changing surgeries, make sure parents are informed when schools encourage their children to “transition”.
Reiner – Parents shouldn’t have any rights.
Trump – Men shouldn’t play in women’s sports, it isn’t fair and it’s dangerous, and men shouldn’t not be in women’s locker rooms or bathrooms.
Reiner – Women’s rights are secondary to the rights of sick and/or possessed men pretending to be women. As a matter of fact, the only rights women should have is the right to kill their baby right up until birth.
Trump – People need to keep more of their money; these tax cuts are good.
Reiner – Government needs more money.
Trump – We need a military that is ready to fight, not a bunch of cross-dressers.
Reiner – Trump hates people.
So on and so forth… but hey, Rest in Peace Rob Reiner…
Affordability
I’ve said on more than one occasion, we’re about to get our butt’s kicked by the Democrats on the “affordability” issue. To add insult to injury, the Dem’s won’t even need a plan (which they could NEVER develop) to bring down prices, as a matter of fact most voters will just decide it’s time to give the dummycrats a try, since Trump didn’t solve all the world’s problems in two short years. I’m not sure people are so stupid that they think that a war on energy, work, and businesses is going to bring down prices, I just think they are willing to give the “new act” a try, and if it fails, they can just refund peoples cover charge and offer a deal on drinks next time around. Perhaps people are just too used to both sides doing nothing. I won’t say Trump isn’t trying to do things, his tariffs might be raising some prices, but he needs to continue, and the “affordability” crisis isn’t about tariffs anyway. It’s about housing and healthcare. Something I will continue to shout to the masses is “build them and they will sell”. I don’t need or want a 4 bedroom 2 and a half bath three car garage home for $600k (or $1.2 million depending upon the area). Build something smaller. Healthcare is another thing altogether. An MRI is $5000 and you what? Want a 40 hour a week line-cook to afford healthcare for his family? Even the Democrats aren’t that stupid. The Democrats have once again completely outsmarted the Republicans, as usual. They ruined healthcare and then sat back and waited for the Republicans to gain power. The solution of course is work, and the solution has always been work. It is why the dems have fought so hard to give free stuff to those who don’t work. 42 million people relying on the federal government for food. Who thinks that’s a good idea? Bueller? Energy will be the third rail of the affordability chant. The Biden administration went to war on gas, coal and every other efficient fuel known to man. Now that we’re having a cold December and DATA centers are usurping massive amounts of energy, “Trump’s energy policies are killing us”.
Hillbilly Elegy –
It’s been a long time since I picked up a book and didn’t put it down until I had finished it. JD Vance did a superb job of bringing his family members to life within the 257 pages of the book. I felt like a knew Mamaw and Papaw, JD’s grandparents who did the lion’s share of raising JD. One of the most talked about aspects of JD’s grandma was her lack of filter that she didn’t have and didn’t need. I understand the concept of lack of filter. My Nana didn’t have a filter whatsoever, she spoke Italian better than English and was Sicilian through and through. When she finished talking you knew exactly what she just said, and there was no confusion. The lack of filter should be termed, telling it like it is. Mamaw was talking to kinfolk and there was no need to polish, “dress-up” or camouflage the message in anyway shape or form. Blunt and to the point is exactly how people like us like to communicate. One of the takeaways of the book, if I might be so bold as to consider myself worthy of adding to the theme, is that almost all of America in Mamaw and Papaw’s era were freshly recovering from the great depression and yeah, they saved tin foil and made soup from ham bones. They had a deep suspicion of people who used ten-dollar words. As do I. It is a great read.
Vance 28? – I love JD, he may even be a distant cousin. The idea isn’t to elect an extension of Donald Trump’s presidency, it’s to extend President Trump’s policies. And getting elected by continuing Trumps policies would require Trump’s policies to be popular, and the more popular they are the more likely we will be to see Vance win the primary and the general election.
Quick Bites
Jesse Ebben signed the Walker recall and Michael Alfonso is 25 years old – Both are a problem, neither problem is insurmountable.
The question during the midterms is not whether the American voter is fickle, but how fickle.
Bob Dohnal – Yes, I realize the election process is flawed and needs to be fixed, but we’ll still need to get more voters to the polls than they do…
Resolutions –
New Year’s Resolutions are a derivative of an old Babylon custom to repay debts and return borrowed items, but for me they’ve always been a chance to bring myself closer to a happier, more productive life. Quitting a harmful habit is generally the “go-to” resolution but I quit smoking over 15 years ago so that old fall back is no longer applicable. A good number of people snarl when I mention the resolutions because for many, the term implies quitting something they like or sacrificing happiness for a blah and joyless existence. That not only doesn’t need to be the case, but it shouldn’t be the case. Four years ago, my resolution was to drink more. Perhaps that one might need explanation. The idea was to take the wife out on a more of regular basis for Bloody Mary’s, or old-fashioneds and small plates. I’m not sure anyone has to dread that one. This year I’m committed to developing a routine. And I believe that may have been last year’s goal and I know I did much better. Life doesn’t lend itself to a routine and unfortunately excitement does not generally allow routine. Routine of course requires one to be organized and disciplined, and I won’t even pretend that’s possible, at least for me. But improvements can be achieved.
All government programs are scams, and many political leaders are getting rich on them.
- Snap. In Wisconsin, Pepsi and Coca-Cola are huge supporters of the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program that allows recipients of the taxpayer-funded program to buy unhealthy items like soda and chips. One would not be surprised to learn that the soda companies own the chips and snack food producers. These companies have lobbyists that have plenty of cash and influence to spread around. I can tell you firsthand, they were vehemently opposed to any reforms. In other states, recipients are allowed to use their SNAP cards at McDonalds. Imagine fighting those lobbyists inside the state capitols!
- Insurance. We’re finding out now that the Obamacare subsidies went directly to the insurance companies and did not in any way shape or form lower the costs of healthcare. And healthcare is too costly to give away to idle individuals. Working families cannot afford healthcare at the current price structure. The cost of a family plan is over $2000 per month not including hefty deductibles. In Wisconsin, BadgerCare is the government program, and the reimbursement rates do not cover the expenses, so healthcare providers need to make up the difference. Guess who is paying for that? NOTE: Healthcare costs also skyrocket because of an obese population that drinks soda and eats chips and takes their meals at McDonalds.
- Energy. We all see what’s going on here. Anytime politicians are receiving large sums of money from a particular industry you can bet there are favors being bought. The three main energy companies are tossing around millions of dollars, and they are landing in the pockets of Republicans in the Wisconsin State Legislature, and of course, the governor. There are a few Democrats on the committees that deal with energy policy that have received big dollars as well. Some “goodwill” goes a long way in politics. Expect to see your energy bills increasing.
- Childcare. Today, the big story is that the Minnesota taxpayer is being fleeced buy the Somalians in the Minneapolis area in the misappropriation of healthcare funds, and now it appears a young independent journalist named Nick Shirley has uncovered a childcare scam in the Somalian community that might be just as big. Shirley visited a daycare center that received $4 million (for just one daycare) but had no kids. The sign outside had “learning center” misspelled as “learing center”. The real question is, why didn’t the people who are supposed to be monitoring these programs know about this, I.e., the elected officials? And why didn’t the mainstream media with their millions of dollars they spend on their “watchdog” programing see that they couldn’t even spell learning correctly? What starts out as a cause, turns into a business, and morphs into a racket, and it happens every time! Here in Wisconsin, we included well over a billion dollars in the last budget for subsidized daycare. That’s a lot of money! Where is it all going?
- Road Builders. Don’t underestimate the road builders. Towards the end of Scott Walker’s last term, the road builders were determined to get a new tax for roads, although they fought against every cost saving measure there was (see the prevailing wage piece on my Savagespeaks Substack). Walker resisted a new tax, and the roadbuilders ran their famous Scott Holes ad, helping Tony Evers win the 2018 election. In Walkers’ last budget, it is well-documented that Speaker Vos and Governor Walker were on opposite sides of the increased gas tax debate. In fact, a few senators demanded that Walker veto the “sunset” date in the prevailing wage provision in order to pass the budget, which Walker did. Vos publicly called those senators (Nass, Stroebel and Kapenga) terrorists. As for Vos’s part in the Scott holes ad, I’ll leave to the reader whether Vos wanted Walker out-of-the-way so Vos could be the top Republican.
- Education. I suppose one just needs to look at their recent tax bill to see that education costs are through the roof. The referendum process is flawed as school officials enjoy a rigged system. They receive bids on millions of dollars’ worth of work from construction companies, who then help to fund numerous “glossy” flyers that outline the benefits of the new spending and all the dangers of not passing the referendum. Flyer after flyer gets sent home to parents and the rest of the community. Many referendums were passed last year, and then the school districts also took advantage of Gov. Evers veto that allowed them to raise the levy on taxpayers even further. One thing is for sure, in its present form, public education will not produce a quality education at any price, and that price is going up, up ,up!
A Paste from AI Regarding the Vos-Walker Gas Tax Debate
In 2017, Wisconsin Assembly Speaker Robin Vos pushed for new road funding, initially suggesting gas tax hikes or registration fee increases alongside income tax cuts, but ultimately, the GOP budget implemented new fees on hybrid/electric vehicles and delayed some borrowing, with Vos advocating for ‘.;[‘a truck fee as a compromise, but the final deal focused on other revenue streams like EV fees to fund roads without big gas tax hikes, though Vos wanted more.
Key Points from Vos & the 2017 Budget:
- Push for Revenue: Vos highlighted a major transportation funding shortfall and sought new ways to pay for roads, even floating gas tax increases initially.
- Compromise & Opposition: Governor Walker opposed gas tax/fee hikes, so Vos proposed a new fee on heavy trucks as a potential deal-maker, notes WEAU.
- Final Budget Outcome: The 2017-19 budget ultimately passed without a major gas tax increase but included new fees for electric and hybrid vehicles, plus reduced borrowing, notes The Daily Reporter and WPR.
- Vos’s Stance: Vos acknowledged the final budget wasn’t perfect but saw it as preventing the problem from worsening, notes WPR.
Quick Bites
- The race for the 7th Congressional District (the vacated Tiffany seat) – Jesse Ebben signed the Walker recall and Michael Alfonso is 25 years old – Both are a problem, neither problem is insurmountable. NOTE: Ashland native Paul Wassgren is also running. Rumor has it there will be more.
- The question during the midterms is not whether the American voter is fickle, but how fickle. One would think 2026 would be a slam dunk. Remember that Trump and the Republicans are running against both the Democrats and the media.
- Bob Dohnal on elections – Yes, I realize the election process is flawed and needs to be fixed, but we’ll still need to get more voters to the polls than they do…
