Lt. Governor – Will Martin and David Varnam are both running. Will martin received 72% of the vote at the convention and is now the “endorsed” candidate of the RPW. NOTE: 72% is impressive. The WCD has endorsed Varnam for a host of reasons. Those reasons would not prevent us from supporting a Tiffany-Martin ticket after the primary. BUT. Those reasons are valid enough to strongly endorse Varnam and work towards his election in August. Please go to WCDigest.com and sign up for our emails if you are not receiving them! We will be writing about these topics in detail.
Secretary of State – we need not expand on our position regarding Nate Pollnow. The list of objections grows longer as does the list of crazy lengths the RPW is willing to go through to get Pollnow over the finish line. Again, please go to WCDigest.com and sign up for our emails if you are not receiving them! The other three, who at the time of this writing are on the ballot are – in alphabetical order, Brayden Myer, Jay Schroeder and Cindy Werner. We consider all three friends of the conversative movement. Bob, our publisher has endorsed Jay, I (Bill the editor) will be making my decision possibly by early July,
Congressional Race for CD7 to replace Tom Tiffany – Trump has endorsed Michael Alfonso, son-in-law of Sean Duffy. At only 25 years of age, Alfonso is young, but I’ve had several conversations with him, and he has a firm grasp of the issues. Also, Jessi Ebben has that “mamma bear” mentality. I think she would be just fine. Kevin Hermaning, the former hostage from the Iran in 1979-1980 is a solid guy and a long-time support of the WCD. Niina Baum, who I’ll admit, wasn’t on my radar (and I obviously was not on hers) is also running. It appears that she is for legalizing marijuana. She stated on her page that she wants to find a sensible way to legalize it. Good luck with that. The government wants to MAKE MONEY on it. That alone should scare everyone equally! Don Raihala, a real estate agent and home builder, was also not on my radar. He claims to have gotten all his signatures himself (not bad if true). No WCD endorsement has been made yet, if we endorse at all. NOTE: I’ve very recently reached out to both Niina and Don.
State Senate District 1 – Andre Jacque isn’t running for re-election. There are four people who are running for the seat – Jacob VandenPlas, who ran for Congress as a member of the Libertarian Party. Andre Jacque’s District staffer, Nic Cravillion. Barb Bittner, recent chair of the Calumet County Party (I consider her a friend, but this isn’t an endorsement). Katie Baney, who is a former DC staffer (for Paul Ryan, and others), also worked for Delta Defense LLC, and is running as a “working mom”. Again, no endorsement yet.
State Senate District 11 – Sandy Wiedmeyer chair of the Kenosha County Party, is running. She has not stepped down as chair but has “stepped back from her duties”. Also running is Ellen Shutt, a former State Rep who dropped out of the 2024 race when Tyler August moved into her district after redistricting. Nick Polce who was initially running for Lt. Governor has joined the race as well. Again, after the dust settles the WCD may be endorsing a candidate.
Assembly races – We will tale a dive into this race in the upcoming weeks – For now a few big ones.
In the 37 AD – Steve Rydzewski is taking on the worn-out Mark Born (it hurts just to type his name!). Born has been a long time Vos yes man and I not only could go into detail on that, I plan to do so. Meanwhile, Steve is a great patriot and is running for all the right reasons. The WCD fully endorses Steve Rydzewski.
In the 58 AD – Bernie Newman is running to replace the outgoing Rick Gundrum. Bernie is an outstanding guy, and you can’t find a different opinion of him anywhere. He’s running against Chris Bossert (who spoke in favor of removing me from the delegate list, for the Washington County Republican Party). Bossert is not a likeable guy and an alternative opinion of him is equally hard to find! Bernie Newman has the full endorsement of the WCD.
In the 74 AD – Scott Harbridge is running against Chanz Green. Green is a “republican” who seems to be on the wrong side of every issue and has been the frequent recipient of criticism from the WCD. Scott Harbridge has the full endorsement of the WCD.
